Half Marathon & 10K Training Program
It’s much easier to get your runs in when you’re looking forward to seeing other participants and know they are there waiting for you! This program emphasizes fun, camaraderie, and a supportive, educational environment.
Beginning on November 11, this training program will focus on safely and effectively building a mileage base for completing your goal race.
The half marathon program is appropriate for first-time half marathoners as well as more experienced runners. Half marathon participants should be currently running consistently 2 to 3 days per week and able to run or run/walk for five miles at least a 16-minute mile. 10K participants should be consistently running 2 to 3 days per week and able to run or run/walk for three miles.
The training program will use the Sarasota Music Half Marathon and 10K, on February 2, 2020, as a goal race, but plans can be tailored to accommodate other spring races!
During the training program we will meet three times a week, Monday evenings and Wednesday* mornings for shorter training runs and Saturdays mornings for a longer run. Most weekday runs will start and finish near Ringling Bridge. Saturday runs will rotate among different locations in the downtown Sarasota and Lido Beach areas for some variety!
Training Program Participants will receive:
- a customized training plan
- opportunities to meet three times a week for group training runs
- workouts after shorter training runs
- weekly emails
- educational resources to supplement the training
- private facebook group for additional support and motivation
- other fun surprises!
The program includes 12 weeks of training.
* Please note – Due to holidays, we will not have a group run on December 25 or January 1.
Race registration is not included in the training program. Refunds are not offered.
